Secrets of longevity


Seems like women are topping the longevity stakes with reports of lifestyle having a major impact on how long we live. High-flying professional women have the highest life expectancy of all at 85.1 years. So if education and lifestyle do have an impact then the other story of the day in the UK that the much maligned WAG‘s (Wives and Girlfriends) should be seen as role models to kids may have a little bit of truth in it.

So if you believe all of this and want to live longer get an education and then either marry a footballer or become an accountant, else don’t believe any of this stuff and go look at the list of the oldest people – there’s doesn’t seem to be one accountant in the list.

Perhaps longevity is not just linked to career as most of these people have spent more of their lives being something other than an occupation pigeon-hole. Jeanne Calment , who at 122 was the world’s oldest person took up fencing at the age of 85 and attributed her longevity to pouring olive oil on her food and her skin and who uttered the immortal words, “”I’ve only got one wrinkle, and I’m sitting on it”. Although it does sounds like she had a WAG type lifestyle…
